i wrap the end tightly in white or black rigging tape (looks like electrical tape but waterproof) and then make a nice clean cut through the middle of it with a razor. gives it a nice finished look. i found my attempts to use heat that caught against the core of bungee resulted in a pretty messy end.

i also whip the ends of any loose lines with whipping line...gives a nice, professional, neat appearance.
