depends. what kind of hatches you putting in, stock or flush mount? I built from a kit, but prefered the flush mount. My covers are made from the cut-out of each hatch, using modified ribs, as with the standard hatches, to maintain the correct radius. If interested, look at the 'leidy lids' at www.blueheronkayak.com, for some nice illustrations. You might check several of the builder sites listed here as well; lots of info.
