Re: shortning the beam

I have a hard time getting my 17 back upright. The 17lt. with a 22 inch beam should be a good compromise of rolling ability and stability. I have looked at the Betsy Bay boats and other designs that all seem to be 22 inches of beam. I wish I could remember the names of the couple that teach rolling that I ran into at the East Coast Kayak festival. They seem to like a lower sheer and 21-22" beam for rolling and stability, so that is what I'm shooting for. I remember reading your previous posts on mods, and I share your view on modifications. Don't be afraid to make things yours.
