I was not trying to be unfriendly. I stand by my belief that modifying proven plans is dicey. For instance, foam panels will not bend the same way as 6mm ply. When I was younger I modified 4 cylinder Ford roadsters and got up to 120mph on the dry lakes. Was this something I could use daily? Not unless the cops were not looking. Not trying to suggest that modifying a yak is illegal, but is the effort worth the unknown result. If you like to tinker, go for it. I think Craig has the correct take on this discussion.
