Thanks, Mac, it's definitely a nice boat and it will be hard to go back to the touring boat for all the drag it produces.
A WW paddle is a white water paddle, shorter with wide blades for very quick powerful turns. It isn't normally used for sea kayaks but that's all I can afford right now. The shorter loom will allow me dip the blade without going too deep (increased resistance from water and less forward thrust) and the wider blade will give me more power to pull the boat faster. Ideally, a wing paddle is what I want but that costs more $$$ than I have at this point.
I'm going to add a riser/coaming and sew my own skirt, the Raven takes on water easily with chop higher than 8 inches because the deck doesn't shove chop aside quick enough.
