Half models

Any of you folks out there know of a good book for building ship half models? I like these artifacts of an earlier age of naval architecture, but the prices for good ones are getting prohibitive to the point where my personal cheap=laziness equation is unbalanced on the cheap side.

Anyone ever build one?
