Skerry rails

I'm a little confused with the rail instructions for the Skerry rails. First the book says their supposed to be one inch by 3/4 inches. They are not. Mine are only 7/8 by 5/8 inches. Second, it looks to me in the picture that the narrow side of the rails are supposed to be glued to the shears, instead of the wide side. Is this correct?
