Pram mast

Anybody out there familiar with the sail rig for the Eastport Pram? The mast doesn't seem to fit snug in the mast step or where it passes through the bow seat, so it kind of wallows around. I'm guessing this may be part of the design, but wouldn't a tight fit be better? Am I missing something?
