Were the covers exposed to sunlight? I had a similar problem with the deck of my double. All the parts were stacked on the table and sunlight "tanned" the exposed wood. I figured if the sun did that, I would use it to even the lines out. I just set the pieces in the sun for a while and the lines dissapeared.
