Re: Cabinet Scrapers
Posted by Mark Camp on Sep 1, 2004
I don't know if I have a sharp file, so:
Can I sharpen a cabinet scraper (for epoxy work, no "hook" required, per your suggestion) with sandpaper spray-glued to flat surface?
I have ordered some cabinet scrapers from Jamestown distributors (THANKS!) , am waiting for them.
I currently use belt sandpaper (held or spray-glued to a flat cast iron sawtable) to sharpen chisels and plane irons, so this would be a familiar method for me. (I guess I kind of use the "Scary Sharp" method, but then finishing with a CLC waterstone at 1000 and 6000) If you have had success with it for scrapers, what grit do you finish with?
