I used that hi-build stuff on a boat some years ago, and it still chips more easily than my other boats. Laziness, rather than common sense, prevents me from just sanding it all off. Not good for hulls and even worse for spars or interior surfaces that will get wear and traffic. Plus the humidity problem you related.

If you're looking for that perfect finish, fairing compound does a better job, or you can sand the cured epoxy and squeegee on a thin coat of epoxy to fill the pin holes.
