rudder cable routing MC16

Just in case anyone stays up late and reads this before I call CLC in the morning, does anyone have some suggestions on routing the cables for the MC16.5? The guide says to try and keep the line straight and to attach it to the sheer clamp. HOWEVER, the foot braces are on risers so the end point is several inches from the hull. Do you drill through the hanging knee or what?
