Agree that what you did find and share moves the ball forward; maybe some ambitious person will take it to the next step and share the results.

I guess it is best to keep lots of the floatation low, which your foam-under-thwarts idea does, and David Bixby's does. Higher-up foam would create less buoyancy at the start of bailing, and none as you start to get more of the water out. If the Wherry's hard to right after turning turtle, that is a different discussion.
