Re: mounting footbraces

Personally I just eyeballed mine, but I mounted them with the "screwless" method. If you're mounting them with screws going through the hull, then just put the brace on the outside of the hull and use it as a drilling guide. A 6 inch level will be sufficient for determining if the front and back of the rail are in line with each other.
