Kurt thanks for the good advice. I already have a good hand plane and some decent chisels and sharpening stones.

I'm not sure what a crosscut sled is, but I think I can figure it out from the name (and reading some books).

Appreciate the help, and yes, it certainly looks like the furniture will be more expensive, but I think it will be worth it. I'm going to start with a coffee table I'm planning right now, and see how that goes. If it works out reasonably, then I'll build a dining table. I have pretty much everything else I need at this point, so maybe that will be it, but I doubt it.
