Re: Finishing Inside

Varnished our cockpit after doing the best I could (but not compulsive) with cabinet scrapers and sanding. Considered painting the interior to cover up the not so wonderful fillets but the varnished cockpit looks fine and seats, footrests, pump, floatable cushion, fishing gear, and miscellaneous gear cover various sins. The varnish (Captains) has held up pretty well despite sand and gravel wear and it's not hard to touch up. A light coloured paint would work too but one can't go back to varnish. As to "standards", your wants and desires trump everything (Folks on this site report everything from postpone (forever?) the finish and get off on the trip to wonderful grand piano quality inlays and finish). Congratulations on a fine craft. Dave
