Does the spot in question appear to be a big grey area? It may be that the epoxy did not saturate through to the wood. In this case I'd advise cutting it out and patching in a new piece rather than just painting over it. The operative word in Wet Out is wet - but not too wet or the glass floats - in which case it appears clear but you've added too much weight and you'll sand into the glass when fairing.
