A "traditional" fiber glass boat uses a mold. Unless you are making several boats of the same type, you will find that making the mold takes almost as much time as making one boat.
The advantage of using a mold for a mass manufacturer is thay can spray parting, color, gel coat, and chopped fiberglass.
