If this is old wood it might be white wood actually tulip poplar. Is the color a consistant green. If it is poplar like Kurt is talking about the color will vary a lot. It is used for trim in comercial construction also always painted. IF it is tulip poplar I have also heard it called Michigan redwood supposed to be quite weather resistant. It usally weathers to a light brown dont know if it would under fiberglass.
