No fill wire holes?

Any thoughts/suggestions on this? I am contemplating not filling each wire hole after clipping or twisting the copper wire off. I see a disadvantage of making the tiny hole appear bigger with dots/smears of epoxy/flour etc. Ant thinking that the fiberglass covering will do the sealing. If I go this route (just letting things be), could I end up regretting it if I chose to varnish vs. paint? What do you think?
