The Feathercraft rudder is marginal - too small. The CLC rudder can be built to any size and blade dimension for your needs. There are tons of rudder hardware available in the sailboat chandleries.

Two possible solutions: Cut the stern off square and glass over, mount a rudder bracket.

Mount strap gudgeons on the stern with reinforcements inside (a good reason for a stern deck hatch). Mount any type of aftermarket/homebuilt rudder with a pintle. This arrangement distributes the rudder load (considerable) across a greater area of the wood core. Sailboy
