This boat was built from plans. Just cut the deck pieces so they overlap at the joint in the middle (more towards the back of the cockpit). Hold the rough cut pieces down with straps or with a friend and mark them with a pencil. Trim about 1.5" fat so you have some placement fudge factor built in. I got the pieces fit then marked the seam location place where each hit the shear and carlin so I could more easily place them with glue. I used a nail at the bow and stern as a pivot point to aid in positioning during the actual install too. The flat spot is not really flat but a smaller section of the circle (deck radius) combined with the nature of the plywood. By doing a test install you can see the shape.
