Built and paddled both. The Pax is much faster, BUT turns create a problem, rough water creates a problem and here in the salt water arena the flat bow of the Pax is an excellent kelp and debris harvester. Simple answer, the Pax is faster under ideal conditions, all other factors such as the same paddler, winds, etc. being equal. See you on the water, Dave
