Actually the cockpit glass in the CHesapeake is 6oz as well as the cockpit glass in the Arctic hawk is doubled 4oz in places. I haven't ever heard of seams "letting go" anymore than a multichine hull with 6oz cloth on the interior would "let go". I have seen cracked 4mm okoume that is glassed only on one side compared to 4mm okoume glassed on both sides. The use of 9oz tape and 6oz cloth is redundant,,like deck beams used in forming the deck is redundant once the coaming stack is applied,,or the ringnails and extra thick sheerclamps to hold them are redundant once the epoxy cures.
