I would take the joint apart and scrap off all the "stuff" you can. Then wipe with a paper towel and start over. The epoxy should be mixed 2 parts od resin and one part of hardner (assuming it is MAS epoxy, read the containers). Then thicken. I have found something like a tea spoon of wood flour per squirt of resin (if you have pumps) will work for mustard.

The extra "stuff" left on the wood shouldn't make that big a difference.
