Hybrids?

Hi, I've just trimmed the excess ply of the deck of my Chesapeake 17, which is my first attept at boatbuilding. It looks great. Has anybody tried to or thought about using the plywood deck as a form to make a cedarstrip deck? I was wondering if I could cover the ply deck in plastic and lay strip over the top. Cheers from Oz
