I haven't built one but paddled the 4mm production version and the first one built in 6mm . I prefered it in 6mm primarily for handling reasons, with more glassing it could be tough enough in 4mm but the version I paddled had a flatter bottom and wandered more than I liked as the bottom rippled while paddling. It should have only one seat, not two as it's not big enough for two people. I think you'll have a faster build and efficient paddling with one of Winters s&g designs (Osprey?) but the Sass14 looks nice and traditional.
