Deck glass

Going to be putting on the deck glass this week. If I let it overhang by about one inch onto the hull, will I end up just sanding all of that off anyway to make it fair. Do you end up with a bump on the side of the hull from the overhang or is it fairly easy to fair that in????? Hmmm just not sure how this part will work out.
