From what I've read on people using the magnet flush hatches it sounds as if they're as much if not more secure than straps. 8x6lb pull = 40lbs of pull. Some have had to cut a slot in one corner to be able to pry the lid off. Unless you're spinning like a washing machine with a can of beans loose in the hold, I don't see a problem.
