Hi Dennis,
"When you say you cut some kerfs, does that mean you put cuts in the hatch stiffener (probably the foremost one, I suspect) and then bent and glued that corner again?"
You are correct in your summation of what I did, I found that for the first few days while the epoxy was getting fully cured and totally hard I needed to have the hatch on the kayak so the rear earth magnets held it to the correct shape. The kerfs will try and open back to the original shape if pressure isn't kept on them.
How are you holding your hatches shut?
