I usually put new boats in the sun for a week or so anyway to get the epoxy nicely cured before final sanding.

Also, If you scrape the drips and high spots off the second fill coat the day after you apply it(takes a half hour at most) then apply the third fill coat very thinly with a squeegee and tip it off with a foam brush, you'll end up with an epoxy finish that approximates a few coats of varnish. It will look quite nice and be easier to sand later on.

MC's are lovely boats. I'm just finishing a 16.5. Let's both go and enjoy them - you to the 'Banks and us to Nova Scotia.
