Up in a Cloud of E-Dust
Posted by Charlie Tuna on Jun 7, 2004
It appears my eagerness to get the hull and deck sanded for paint and varnish went too far. It seems I have sanded past the 4 layers of epoxy and through the glass on a couple sections on the chines at mid ship on the CH17. I was hand sanding but I guess the prior 3 hours of sanding with the ROS clouded my concentration or simply my eyes were filled with e-dust. Regardless I have a couple 1 inch sections that are now bare wood. My initial thoughts were to simply apply another thin coat of epoxy and a final "light" sanding before applying paint. After some more thought I was wondering if I should apply a couple small sections of glass there as well to re-gain the strength.
Any thoughts?
