Build which ever makes you want to take it out for a paddle. You'll be proud of either just as much. I was pondering the same question a few years back. Floated both at a CLC demo. They're great craft. My story ends differently because a brother had purchased plans for a Severn. We had most of the materials on hand and we wanted to experiment with Chess-like mods.
