go for it. The necessity for scarf joints in the CLC kayaks designs is derived from the original Yare/Severn designs for the hulls and the later sea kayak designs for the decks where a butt joint wouldn't allow the ply to bend on the tighter radius. Butt joints on the hull panels are no problem as the effective radius is huge in comparison to the deck. With the MC16 you could ensure that the bent portion of the decks doesn't require a joint with one or two joints on the narrow midsection of the deck,,,which like the kayaks has a butt joint at the cockpit.
