Don't get down on the project! I just spent 2 hours rowing in Mission Bay, Dan Diego. A lot of people comment on what a beautifull boat the Wherry is. Now to your problem. The real problem is the epoxy/wood filler is too hard next to the wood. I had the same problem but I used micro ballons as my filler.Mix it thick. This is soft enouth that you can feather it out next to the wood easyly. Be sure to use micro ballons made for boating. The cheep autobody ones are no good.
