Boatbuilding Class FAQs
Class Details: Choose between the Nutshell 7'7" and Nutshell 9'6" models for WoodenBoat's annual "Family Week," which caters to parent-child teams in a family-friendly environment at the incomparable WoodenBoat School campus in Maine.
Wonderfully versatile little boats for sailors of all ages, Nutshell Prams are dinghies of traditional glued-lapstrake design. Students may choose between the 7'7" and 9'6" pram. This will be a fun, sometimes challenging, achievement-oriented project for family members and the Nutshell will be a source of recreation, learning, and immense pride for all involved.
While CLC is best known for stitch-and-glue designs, the CLC-sourced Nutshell pram kits are more traditionally built. The Nutshells are built from premium materials---sapele, sitka spruce, bronze, and brass. There's more carpentry and less epoxy in these Joel White-designed mini-yachts, so sharpen your planes and get ready to make the shavings fly.
Please specify if you'd like to include the sailing rig when you sign up.
